Ask for a referral without being weird

What you need: The referrer's first name and what specifically you did together — the actual outcome with a real detail (the number, the launch name, the deal you closed, the episode that aired). The date the outcome happened — you want 45-90 days behind you for this to land right. The ONE shape of person you want introduced to — not "anyone in business," the specific role + size + problem you solve best for them (operator at a 30-50 person SMB, fractional CFO at a series-A SaaS, retired pro athlete in your alumni network running a foundation). The voice example — one recent message you sent the referrer that landed naturally; the AI matches the tone so your ask doesn't read like a stranger wrote it.

How to use: If you've built your business profile (see "Start here") and saved it as a Claude Project / Custom GPT / Gemini Gem, open that and paste this prompt inside — the AI uses your profile context automatically and skips questions it can answer. Otherwise, paste into any fresh AI chat. The AI will interview you across 6 questions, then produce TWO artifacts: (1) the message you send to the referrer — anchored in the specific outcome, the 60-day timing, the assumed-assumption ask, and an explicit easy-out close, and (2) a forward-template the referrer copies and sends to the person they're introducing — pre-written so the referrer's job collapses to 30 seconds of editing. Sending both pieces in one email is the mechanic that turns "yes I'll introduce you!" into actual introductions.
