Crypto / alt-investment red-flag check

The 7 signals that should make you walk.

What you need: The pitch you're being shown — what kind of vehicle (crypto token, syndication LP, hedge-fund-adjacent product, NFT project, sport-finance instrument, "passive income" platform, anything alt), who's pitching it (founder name, sponsor firm, the friend or family member who looped you in), and any documents they've sent (deck, PPM, whitepaper, term sheet, screenshots of "returns"). For tokens: the contract address and the chain. For LP / fund pitches: the sponsor's name, track record claims, and the offering memo. For "guaranteed yield" platforms: the promised return rate and the mechanism they claim generates it. Skip what you don't have — the prompt will tell you which gaps are load-bearing and where to look them up before you commit.

How to use: If you've built your business profile (see "Start here") and saved it as a Claude Project / Custom GPT / Gemini Gem, open that and paste this prompt inside — the AI will use your context (capital position, prior alt exposure, risk tolerance from past decisions) and skip questions it can answer. Otherwise paste into any fresh AI chat. The AI runs you through 7-9 questions about the pitch, scores it against a 7-signal red-flag scorecard (structural / sales-pressure / comp-structure / counterparty), tells you the exact searches to run on SEC EDGAR / FINRA BrokerCheck / IAPD / SEC Action Lookup / state securities regulator before you write any check, gives you verbatim questions to send the promoter (the ones that make scammers walk away), and ends with ONE verdict — WALK / DEEP DUE DILIGENCE / OK FOR SMALL POSITION — naming the single load-bearing reason. Bias is built in: most alt pitches shown to non-pros are bad. Retired athletes and high-net-worth individuals in their first $1M+ phase are documented high-frequency targets — Kirk Wright burned six NFL players for parts of a $150M Ponzi, Brahmbhatt / Success Trade burned Vernon Davis and Joe Haden, FTX named Trevor Lawrence in an $11B class action. This prompt is built against that pattern.
