Deliver hard feedback without burning bridges

The exact words for the conversation you've been avoiding.

What you need: Who the conversation is with (name, role, how long they've been on the team). The ONE pattern you're addressing — missed performance with specific dates and examples, behavior toward teammates with specific incidents you witnessed, or a single line crossed (be ready to describe what they did or said in language a video camera could have captured — "you interrupted Jess twice" not "you were dismissive"). The downstream impact (a client went quiet, a teammate pulled back, a project missed). What change you actually need to see and by when. Whether HR is already involved or this is the first formal conversation. The history with this person — tenure, prior strong work, what's different in the last few weeks.

How to use: If you've built your business profile (see "Start here") and saved it as a Claude Project / Custom GPT / Gemini Gem, open that and paste this prompt inside — the AI uses your business context (size, your management voice) and skips questions it can answer. Otherwise, paste into any fresh AI chat. The AI interviews you across 7 questions, then produces the script in seven blocks: the opening line (2-3 sentences, no small talk, no compliment sandwich), the Situation-Behavior-Impact lines (camera-testable — observable behavior only, never character labels), the pause (when to stop talking and let silence do the work), three pre-scripted responses for the three likely reactions (defensive / shutdown / emotional), the ask (specific behavior change with a date), the close (what happens if it does AND doesn't change), and the recap-email instructions. The output is what you will literally SAY out loud — read it once, walk into the room.
