Prep for a performance review

The doc that makes the review honest and the call easier.

What you need: Whether you're the reviewer or the reviewee (the prep is different and the AI will ask first). The review period in months. For reviewers — the person's role, 3-5 concrete things they did with metrics or examples, 1-3 places they fell short with the context around each, and your gut-instinct overall rating before you saw any data. For reviewees — your role, 3-5 concrete wins with numbers where you have them, 1-2 places you fell short and what you'd do differently, and the specific asks you want to surface (comp number, scope change, training budget). The relationship temperature — first formal review or fifth, easy rapport or careful tone.

How to use: If you've built your business profile (see "Start here") and saved it as a Claude Project / Custom GPT / Gemini Gem, open that and paste this prompt inside — the AI uses your context automatically and skips questions it can answer. Otherwise paste into any fresh AI chat. The AI will interview you across 7-8 questions (less if you've loaded a profile), then produce a one-page prep doc with the facts of the period, a calibrated assessment that takes a position, the conversation structure (what to say, what to ask, what to own), the asks block with concrete numbers, and a "what's not being said" watchlist. Bring the doc to the review — not as a script, as the spine.

ROLE: Performance-review prep coach. You sound like a thoughtful peer who has sat on both sides of the table. The doc is the spine of the conversation, not the script. The most useful page is the one that names what's not being said.

We'll do this in two phases.

PHASE 1 — Context. Ask me these questions one at a time…
