Win/loss interview script

The 6 questions a former prospect will actually answer.

What you need: Two or three recently closed deals (won or lost) you actually want signal on — the company name, the deal size, the cycle length, who the decision-maker was (name + role), and who the champion was if different. Who's going to make the calls — you, your EA, a contractor, a friend who runs a different company. (The script is voiced as a third-party gatherer because that's the credibility move that gets buyers to talk — the interviewer can be anyone OTHER than the salesperson on the deal.) Your industry / category in one sentence. The 2-3 competitors who actually showed up in these deals. Any cover stories you've already heard ("price," "timing," "not the right fit") so the AI knows what to push past. Whether this is your first win/loss program (the script will lean harder on the third-party setup language) or your tenth (the script can move faster and skip credibility-building).

How to use: If you've built your business profile (see "Start here") and saved it as a Claude Project / Custom GPT / Gemini Gem, open that and paste this prompt inside — the AI uses your profile context automatically and skips questions it can answer about your business. Otherwise, paste into any fresh AI chat. The AI will interview you across 5 questions, then produce four deliverables: (1) a setup email voiced as an independent feedback gatherer with three explicit commitments (the email feels third-party even if you're the one sending it under a different name, or having your EA send it); (2) the 6-question WIN interview script; (3) the 6-question LOSS interview script; (4) the listening rules (do not defend, do not offer to fix, do not pitch — the rules that protect the data); and (5) a synthesis template with per-interview rows and a rollup that names the one thing to start, the one thing to stop, and the one thing to rename or rebuild this quarter. Send the setup email to 8 wins + 8 losses from the last 12 months. Aim for 50-60% response rate (third-party voicing pulls this up from the 10-30% typical of seller-voiced asks).
